Visit to Ogrodzieniec Castle
On May 26, volunteers Gisselle and Mostafa, together with Akademia WSB representative Łukasz, visited Ogrodzieniec Castle located in the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura region. The trip was organized as a farewell visit due to Mostafa’s last day of volunteering. During the visit, they explored not only the castle itself but also the entire area surrounding it. They visited many different parts of the castle complex, including the medieval kitchen, torture chamber, observation tower, and the castle courtyard. They also had the opportunity to learn about local legends and stories connected with the castle and its long history.
“Before this trip, I had never heard about this place, so it was a completely new experience for me. I was impressed by its history dating back to the 14th century and by its unique location among limestone rock formations. I especially liked the beautiful views and the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the castle.” – Gisselle
After the sightseeing tour, the group had an opportunity to try traditional Polish cuisine in a local restaurant. They especially enjoyed pierogi and schabowy served with potatoes.
“These kinds of activities allow us to better understand Polish culture, history, and heritage outside the academic environment.” – Mostafa
