United In Action
Full-Day Welcome Trip to Krakow
As part of our integration and welcoming activities, we organized a special welcome trip to Krakow for our new volunteer, Aya, accompanied by fellow volunteer Gisselle. It was Aya’s very first visit not only to Krakow but also to Poland, so we wanted to introduce her to the richness of Polish culture, history, and traditions, while showcasing the unique heritage of our country and region.
During their full-day trip, the girls had the opportunity to explore some of Krakow’s most iconic landmarks, including Wawel Royal Castle, the Main Market Square, the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), and St. Mary’s Basilica. Their itinerary also included a walk across Father Bernatek’s Bridge, a visit to the historic Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz), and a tour of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory.
Discovering a new country also means experiencing its culinary traditions! That’s why the girls visited a traditional Polish restaurant, where they had the chance to taste local dishes and discover the flavors of Polish cuisine. Sharing a meal together was also a wonderful opportunity to chat, exchange experiences, and share their first impressions of Poland.
The trip not only allowed Aya to learn more about Polish history, architecture, and traditions but also helped her feel part of the United in Action team. Activities like this play an important role in intercultural integration, fostering friendships, and encouraging mutual understanding of different cultures and traditions. We hope this was just the beginning of an unforgettable adventure for Aya in Poland and her volunteering journey!
