Visiting the Guido Mine

Our volunteers, Eray and Gisselle, together with their mentors and supervisors, Kacper and Łukasz, visited the Guido Mine. The trip marked the end of Eray’s volunteering experience at WSB University.

Their journey into discovering the Silesian region had actually begun the day before. Eray, together with his mentor, visited the Silesian Museum in Katowice, where he had the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of our region. While exploring the exhibitions, he discovered how the people of Silesia lived throughout the years, learned about their traditions, everyday life, and the changes that have shaped the region over time.

The next stage of this journey was a visit to the Guido Mine in Zabrze, one of the most iconic landmarks of Upper Silesia. During the tour, the participants went underground, learned about the working conditions of miners throughout history, and explored original mining tunnels and machinery. Initiatives like these allow our volunteers not only to contribute to the daily activities of WSB University, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and traditions of the region where they carry out their volunteering experience.
